Reigning ONE welterweight submission grappling returned to action inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand and welcomed the promotional newcomer Jozef Chen in a catchweight submission grappling match.
Both BJJ savants were eager to showcase their skills in front of a packed crowd. Ruotolo wanted to add Chen to his victim list, while Chen aimed to prove that he belonged on the global stage with an upset win over the welterweight king.

The 10-minute contest started with a feel-out stage, but Ruotolo was constantly gauging Chen with multiple attacks and feints. Two minutes into the bout, both are still finding a way to maneuver against their opponent. The first major scramble happened at the 7-minute mark, with Ruotolo trying to throw Chen down the mat, but he instantly popped back up.
The takedown came at the 6:30 mark in Ruotolo's favor, as he forced Chen to his back down the canvas. Rutolo then started to attack relentlessly, constantly attacking Chen and pursuing various positions for possible advantages.
At the 3:20 mark, Chen threatened with a leg lock, but Tye perfectly countered by popping out back and standing up. Chen tried a last submission attempt with another leg lock but Tye shut it off again perfectly. Ruotolo's constant attack and aggression may be enough for him to get away with another victory.

Tye Ruotolo recorded his seventh successive victory under the world's largest martial arts organization by beating promotional debutant Josef Chen in their catchweight submission grappling match via unanimous decision.
Ruotolo's constant aggression and pursuit of submission attempts were enough for him to eclipse the two leg lock submission attempts of the South African phenom to sway the judges in giving him the nod on their scorecards.
