ONE Fight Night 24: ONE VP Rich Franklin believes Jarred Brooks can 'neutralize' Gustavo Balart's Olympic-level wrestling
Jarred Brooks is set to take on one of the few top strawweights that he has yet to cross paths with in the main event of ONE Fight Night 24.
The former world champion has already beaten several of the biggest and best that this weight class has to offer but his next outing provides an interesting challenge.
Cuba's Gustavo Balart uses his elite-level grappling background to pressure opponents and control them once he gets his hands on them.
Given that Brooks is no slouch in the grappling department also, the question is whether he can answer Balart's specialty by having success of his own.
In a preview of the main event that is set to take place on August 2, ONE Vice President Rich Franklin weighed in with his thoughts.
Franklin stated in an interview with ONE Championship that he can't see Balart having the same level of success that he normally has in the clinch against an opponent like Brooks:
"Balart has not faced an opponent with this level of wrestling, and I do not believe Brooks will allow Balart to clinch and neutralize him."
The grappling exchanges will be key for Jarred Brooks
There aren't many competitors in the world that can match up to Gustavo Balart's wrestling but Jarred Brooks may be one of them.
Both men are unique tests for one another due to the way that both tend to implement their will and game plan on opponents.
For Brooks, he can't afford to get stuck in a wrestling and clinch battle for 25 minutes at Lumpinee Stadium.
The 31-year-old needs to use his wrestling in this fight to avoid this becoming the case so that he can work his overall skill set to try and come out on top.
Wrestling will be key as you can always expect from these two men.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
