ONE Friday Fights 68 results: Petchtanong returns with a bang, finishes Alaverdi Ramazanov in round two
Former ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion Petchtanong Petchfergus proved he had not lost any game time as he enjoyed a quick night out against Alaverdi Ramazanov at ONE Friday Fights 68.
The Thai striking veteran, who was last in action in November 2022, might have lacked a bit of bite early, but he took charge when it mattered most to secure a third successive win on the global stage of ONE Championship in Bangkok, Thailand this past Friday, June 28.
He stayed light on his feet and followed Ramazanov wherever he attempted to create angles. When the Russian hopped forward with one, he returned with two in quick succession.
The Thai veteran stuck to the same rhythm for the rest of the opening stanza, though he had his work cut out at times by Ramazanov's snappy combinations.
As round two got underway, both men still refused to drop their guard down and swing for the fences. However, Petchtanong's impressive kicking game kept the Team Mehdi Zatout fighter on alert.
Meanwhile, "Babyface Killer" opted to hop in and out of the pocket, landing crisp one-twos and kicks to score points on his end.
Though it was looking like another chess match between the two former ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champions, Petchtanong increased his intensity and threw with far more power, accuracy, and intent.
From there, the finish looked to be in the offing, and mere seconds later, the inevitable happened.
The former WBC & WMC Muay Thai world champion butchered Ramazanov with a salvo of strikes that left him dazed. The latter, who appeared to have injured his foot during the exchange, couldn't do anything to save himself.
As a result, referee Ricky Sewell called off the tie at 1:59 of the second stanza, handing the Superbon Training Camp athlete a win to improve his overall resume 359-56.
Official result: Petchtanong Petchfergus defeats Alaverdi Ramazanov via TKO at 1:59 of round two
