ONE Friday Fights 86 results and recap: Chartpayak moves to 5-0 with hard-fought win over Kompet
Chartpayak Saksatoon came out on top in a back-and-forth thriller alongside Kompet Fairtex in the ONE Friday Fights 86 main event on November 8.
The 26-year-old stepped on the gas pedal from the get-go, throwing shots that forced his opposite number to backpedal inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
That forward pressure only intensified towards the end of the stanza, and he was rewarded with a knockdown just before the bell rang.
Despite starting the second round on shaky ground, Kompet came back guns blazing in the second frame. The Fairtex Training Center athlete had the better action of the exchanges, penetrating Chartpayak's tight defense with heavy leather.
With things pretty, both men went all-out in the final three minutes of their ONE Friday Fights 86 headliner bout.
Chartpayak upped his volume with big combinations. But every time he dropped his guard and threw bombs, Kompet replied with a similar output to close out the three-round barnburner.
Ultimately, Chartpayak's early knockdown and precision helped him secure the majority decision win. With the victory, the Kiatpetch man moved to 66-15 in his career and 5-0 under the ONE Friday Fights banner.
ONE Friday Fights 86 might have been filled with all-out wars that went the distance. Still, it wasn't short of spectacular knockouts from Egor Bikrev, Chatpichit Sor Sor Toipadriew, Mahesuan Aekmuangnon, Nontachai Jitmuangnon, and Carlos Alvarez.
