"One of the greats!" - Former WWE star Richochet, fans marvel at Demetrious Johnson's poetic flying knee KO of Adriano Moraes
Reigning ONE flyweight MMA world champion Demetrious Johnson validated his claim as one of the best martial artists in history by acting revenge against former flyweight kingpin Adriano Moraes in their second meeting in August 2022 at ONE on Prime Video 2.
Johnson scored a fourth-round knockout against Moraes to become the new undisputed flyweight king and his crowning moment was reposted by the promotion recently on Instagram, as they captioned the post with:
""Mighty Mouse" reigns supreme ๐ What's on the horizon for Demetrious Johnson? @mighty"
As seen in the video, 'Mighty Mouse' displayed his elite technicality and fight IQ by setting up a finishing blow over 'Mikinho' with impeccable counterstriking. Johnson faked a knee strike and slipped the punch from Moraes before he hit him with a solid punch and a flying knee to put him out cold.
This outstanding performance from the 37-year-old American still gets the fans buzzing, as users @farizkiyzd, @delic1211, @andretti.meech, @_bne_b, and even former WWE star Richochet (@kingricochet) sang their praise through their comments:
"DJ is one of the GREATS!"
"GOAT stuff ๐... this is definitely one of the best knockouts in MMA history. and his suplex armbar is even crazier, probably THE best submission in MMA history."
"High fight i.q., perfect condition, he is one of the best ever. ๐๐๐"
"This is for sure the most technical thing I've ever seen๐ฎ"
"It's so perfect it doesn't seem real"
Demetrious Johnson was called out by ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion Jarred Brooks
Following his revenge win over Moraes in their second encounter, Johnson officially closed their rivalry in May 2023 at ONE Fight Night 10, where he unanimously beat the Brazilian MMA star during their trilogy fight.
Now, Johnson is being called out by fellow American and current ONE interim strawweight world champion Jarred Brooks for a super fight after he captured the 26-pound golden belt against Gustavo Balart at ONE Fight Night 24 on August 2 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
