"One of the worst women’s fights" - BKFC president David Feldman pulls no punches voicing frustration over "awful" main event
BKFC president David Feldman has criticized the recent title matchup put forth by the organization. The veteran entrepreneur suggested that the BKFC 65 headlining match was one of the worst main events in the promotion's history.
The BKFC 65 event transpired at the Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A., on Sept. 6, 2024. It was headlined by reigning women's flyweight champion Christine Ferea defending her title via split decision against challenger Jade Masson-Wong.
Both fighters engaged in a technically sound battle and steered clear of taking any major risks, resulting in a relatively low-activity fight.
During the post-fight press conference, the champion attributed the lackluster fight to her opponent's excessive clinching and refusal to engage. Meanwhile, Masson-Wong opined that some fights tend to play out in this manner and they'd put on a better performance next time.
During the BKFC 65 post-fight press conference, David Feldman alluded to certain sections of fight fans lambasting the lack of action in the much-awaited main event matchup. Feldman expressed his disappointment over the Ferea vs. Masson-Wong fight and stated:
"Let's go to the main event. I thought it was f**king awful, honestly. Awful. One of the worst main events we've ever had in history. One of the worst women's fights we've ever had. It was just -- if you're fighting for the championship, I mean, I think anyone will agree with me -- if you're fighting for a championship, you got to go in there."
He added:
"You got to be willing to go out on your shield. And it didn't look like either woman really wanted to get hit tonight. And I was disappointed. And the comments online are telling me that they were very disappointed, too. So, I'm sorry to say that, but it is what it is. It was a very lackluster main event, and I was very disappointed, as were the fans as you heard by the boos, as were the comments. So, unfortunate."
That said, Feldman indicated that the fight card was a good one overall, further implying that Salt Lake City was a great host for the event. He asserted that they'll bring a big event to the city on Oct. 5 and return there four times in 2025.

David Feldman addresses BKFC superstar Mike Perry's future with the organization
Ex-UFC welterweight Mike Perry has been beheld as the face of BKFC for the past few years. However, some believe that Perry's brand was dented by the sixth-round TKO defeat he suffered against Jake Paul in their professional boxing bout in July 2024.
Following that loss, BKFC co-owner and combat sports megastar Conor McGregor claimed that Perry was fired from the promotion.
Regardless, Perry attended BKFC 65. When asked about it, Feldman promised that 'Platinum' would be featured on the biggest fight card in the organization's history toward the end of 2024.
Recalling their "good conversation" at the event, he highlighted that he's advised Perry to stick to his sport of bare-knuckle boxing rather than pro-boxing. Feldman noted:
"We have a mega-fight that we're gonna announce next week. It's gonna close out the year with probably the biggest fight card we've ever had in our history. And he's going to be a part of that." [2:50]
