Oscar De La Hoya blasts "traitors" who left him for PBC, calls Canelo Alvarez "ungrateful jealous a**hole"
Oscar De La Hoya recently unleashed a scathing verbal attack on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) and even directed sharp criticism toward boxing star Canelo Alvarez.
In his rant, the Golden Boy promoter expressed deep resentment toward several boxers. He labeled the boxers who abandoned him for PBC as "traitors," including some of the biggest names in boxing like Errol Spence Jr., Deontay Wilder, and the Charlo brothers. De La Hoya accused PBC of mismanaging these fighters, claiming that their careers have stagnated since leaving his promotion.
De La Hoya also lashed out at Alvarez, calling the Mexican star "ungrateful" and "jealous." The relationship between the two has soured over the years, with De La Hoya accusing Alvarez of turning his back on the promotion that helped elevate him to stardom.
The 51-year-old referenced Tim Tszyu's recent defeat against Bakhram Murtazaliev as an example of PBC’s alleged failings and reiterated that poor matchmaking has been a key issue for the rival promotion. The former Mexican-American boxer took to X to launch a fierce tirade and said:
"So 10 years ago, almost to the day, I had several traitors in my office, douches. My company Golden Boy Promotions built all the top all the top PBC fighters including Errol Spence, Deontay Wilder, the Charlo brothers, Danny Garcia, Abner Mares, Leo Santa Cruz, the list goes on. But these disloyal douches in my office waited for my fighters' contracts to expire and they took them over to the new startup promotional company called PBC. Hundreds of millions of dollars were raised and PBC tried to take over the entire boxing industry. And they failed miserably."
He added:
"And Canelo can't just help himself. When it comes to being an ungrateful, jealous, a**hole. Why do you hate me so much? Is it because I fought all challengers and you refuse to fight David Benavidez? I built you and I'm your daddy."

When Canelo Alvarez expressed regret in not joining PBC instead of Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions
Canelo Alvarez’s decade-long partnership with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions ended in 2020 after a highly publicized split.
Alvarez claimed that the company breached his $365 million contract, which led to a legal battle where the Mexican fighter sought $280 million in damages. Since the split, both sides have exchanged accusations, fueling an ongoing feud between the boxer and his former promoter.
Canelo, who built a reputation under Golden Boy Promotions by facing top fighters like Gennady Golovkin and Floyd Mayweather, stated that he could have achieved greater success if he had signed with Al Haymon’s PBC earlier in his career. Shedding light on the matter during an appearance on the MILLION DOLLAZ WORTH OF GAME podcast, he said:
“I did good things with Golden Boy. I’m not mad with that, but I would’ve been better with PBC. I like to work with everybody, but right now I’m working with PBC. I’m glad to do business with Al Haymon."
