Paddy Pimblett and AEW star MJF's beef: All you need to know

The beef between Paddy Pimblett and MJF initially started with Pimblett's comments on the's AEW star's video. Maxwell Jacob Friedman's video clip, where he talks about the dangers of pro wrestling, went viral on the internet. MJF drew the ire of MMA fighters for claiming that pro wrestling is more dangerous than mixed martial arts.

Paddy Pimblett joined former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and others to ridicule the AEW world champion. 'The Baddy' called the entertainment wrestler a "clown" among other things, leading to talks of a potential clash between the two. While Pimblett suggested a showdown at Craven Cottage, the home ground of Premier League team Fulham F.C., MJF proposed a clash during AEW's potential London debut next year. PED allegations were also made from both sides.

Following their spat on Twitter, MJF doubled down on his previous comments in an interview with ESPN's Marc Raimondi. The AEW world champion elaborated on the dangers of pro wrestling, noting that pro wrestlers have been paralyzed from the neck down and even killed during matches, which is an unlikely occurrence in MMA.

Friedman also labeled MMA fighters as "prima donnas" who, according to him, would not stand a chance in the pro wrestling ring against "real fighters" like himself. MJF told Raimondi:

"I’m sick and tired of people talking about pro wrestling as if it’s some fucking stunt show. The fact of the matter is Paddy ‘The Prima Donna’ Pimblett would not last two seconds in a professional wrestling ring with me. Maybe not even one. This fat, moon-faced prick, Will-from-Stranger-Things-looking asshole dollar store Conor McGregor decided he needed to chirp up and say, ‘Oh, wrestling is fake.’ Let me tell you something. We are real fighters. They are prima donnas."

The AEW champion also said that he could turn up to Paddy Pimblett's fight at UFC 282, a claim that he delivered on.

MJF arrived at UFC 282, expecting to see Paddy Pimblett "get knocked the f*** out." However, MJF's wishes remained unfulfilled as Pimblett walked away with an immensely controversial unanimous decision win over Jared Gordon.

Like large sections of MMA fans and pundits around the world, the AEW star also believes that 'The Baddy' was gifted the decision. MJF dismissed Pimblett's victory and also accused the Liverpudlian of running away from him. The 26-year-old wrote:

"What a joke. Paddy lost that fight and you know it... He ran away from me like a punk b***h too."
