Paddy Pimblett called out by top-10 ranked UFC lightweight for a fight at UFC London 2025: "Sounds great"
A top-10 ranked UFC lightweight contender has called out rising star Paddy Pimblett for a potential clash at UFC London in March 2025.
Mateusz Gamrot, who's currently ranked No.8 in the division, is looking to rebound after a narrow split decision loss to Dan Hooker at UFC 305. Despite the setback, his previous wins against Rafael dos Anjos, and Jalin Turner, make him a formidable threat in the lightweight division.
A fan on X floated the idea of a clash between Gamrot and Pimblett. 'Gamer' reacted to the post and challenged Pimblett for a fight, writing:
"Sounds great... @PaddyTheBaddy ready?"
Check out the X post below:
Pimblett, riding a six-fight win streak in the UFC, has cemented himself as a fan favorite with exciting performances. His recent submission victory over King Green at UFC 304 earned him another Performance of the Night bonus. Before that, Pimblett secured notable wins against veterans Tony Ferguson, Jared Gordon, and Jordan Leavitt.
The potential matchup promises an exciting stylistic clash. Pimblett’s aggressive striking and submission prowess could be tested against the Gamrot's world-class wrestling and durability. A win over a top-ranked opponent could propel Pimblett into the lightweight top 10, and bring him closer to his title aspirations.
Michael Chandler claims a potential fight against Paddy Pimblett would be "absolutely huge"
Michael Chandler recently claimed that a potential fight against Paddy Pimblett would be a matchup that excites him. Chandler, who's coming off a unanimous decision loss to Charles Oliveira in their rematch at UFC 309, has been targeting a fight against Conor McGregor.
However, with McGregor’s return delayed due to ongoing legal issues, Chandler has shown interest in facing Pimblett, recognizing the potential for an exciting matchup. For the former UFC lightweight title challenger, it presents an opportunity to bounce back with a victory over a fan favorite.
Speaking about the matchup in an interview with LuckyBlock.com, Chandler said:
“I have a lot of respect for Paddy Pimblett, he and I are very cordial and it’s been documented how I congratulated him after bearing Tony Ferguson. We have a good relationship, but obviously, if we get matched up against each other, the goal is to go out there and inflict bodily harm. Paddy versus myself is gonna happen at some point, I’m not sure when, but that’s definitely a fight that interests me. It’s definitely a fight that would be fun for the fans." [H/t: BJPenn.com]
Chandler added:
“It would make people feel something. Paddy 'The Baddy', what he stands for, who he is, myself, what I stand for, who I am, both of our fight styles. Chandler vs. Paddy, it sounds like a fun one, and it will definitely happen. Is it next? I don’t know, but it definitely could be. Yeah, that would be absolutely huge.”
