Paddy Pimblett confident of delivering breakout performance at UFC 282, shares striking improvements

Amidst the recent controversies surrounding his name, Paddy Pimblett is still preparing to put on an impressive performance and really kickstart his push to superstardom when he competes at UFC 282 this weekend.

'The Baddy' has been a captivating entity since signing for the UFC and expects to elevate his status within the sport next time out. Despite finishing all three of his opponents in the promotion, the Scouser has been in trouble on multiple occasions inside the cage, which many believe may leave a window of opportunity for Jared Gordon to be victorious.

While in an interview with Michael Bisping for BT Sport, Paddy Pimblett gave some insight into his training and insisted that he expects to showcase his "most complete performance" on Saturday night due to the improvements he has made in the striking department:

"My striking has come on leaps and bounds [during this training camp]. I'd also say my S&C [strength and conditioning], but that hasn't just been this camp. I've noticed my body change over the past two, two-and-a-half years where I've actually focused on my strength and conditioning and done it religiously... I think this is gonna be my most complete performance."

Despite having six knockout victories to his name, Pimblett believes his striking is the one area in his game that has seen the most improvements over his fight camp, promising fans they should expect a clinic on December 10.

While he has a number of doubters and many fans who dislike him, it's hard to argue just how entertaining the lightweight contender has been since making the jump to the UFC from Cage Warriors back in 2021.

Check out what Paddy Pimblett had to say about his improvements for his upcoming bout in the video below:

How does Paddy Pimblett's striking stack up against UFC 282 opponent Jared Gordon?

Paddy Pimblett is best known for his ground game and his ability to tie up a submission from almost any position. However, his unusual striking patterns have been a problem for opponents throughout his career.

Jared Gordon has six knockout wins throughout his 24-fight career, but his grit and pressure have made up for what he lacks in certain areas in the standup. While he does have power and speed, he has just one finish during his five-year UFC tenure to date.

Pimblett is widely seen as the more dynamic striker and can find shots from anywhere with a large array of weapons in his arsenal, arguably making this matchup a favorable one for him.
