Paddy Pimblett feels calling out big names in the lightweight division "is stupid" - "I'm still climbing the ladder"
Paddy Pimblett took the UFC by storm following his debut at UFC Vegas 36. The Scouser's brash personality and Liverpudlian-lingo made him an instant fan favorite.
But despite his surge in popularity, Paddy Pimblett isn't getting ahead of himself. With just three fights in the UFC, 'The Baddy' is keen to take his time gaining experience before fighting the best lightweights in the division.
Pimblett will take on Jared Gordon, his toughest opponent to date, at UFC 282. Neither man is ranked inside the top 15 at lightweight, but Paddy Pimblett stated that a win over Gordon doesn't mean he will be calling out a ranked fighter next.
Whilst speaking to Sky Sports, 'The Baddy' said:
"It's mad, people on the internet saying, 'He should fight Michael Chandler or Dustin Poirier.' They haven't got a clue what they're talking about. When I fight them, I'll be getting the wages to fight them. At the minute, I'm in no rush, still climbing the ladder. And I'm not gonna start demanding fights with people."

Paddy Pimblett says he will 'snap' Ilia Topuria's chin if he sees him at UFC 282
Paddy Pimblett will be taking on Jared Gordon in the co-main event of UFC 282 next weekend. The card is stacked from top-to-bottom, with rising contenders Bryce Mitchell and Ilia Topuria opening the main card of the evening.
Pimblett and Topuria were involved in an altercation several months ago at the fighter hotel prior to UFC London, and the pair came close to blows.
During a recent interview with Nick Peet of BT Sport, 'The Baddy' stated that he won't be staying in the fighter hotel next weekend to avoid any mishaps. Pimblett said this:
"I've got myself a house. I don't need to stay in a hotel with those mushrooms. That hand-sanitizer boy [Ilia Topuria] and that. If I see him lad, I'll end up snapping his chin. So I'll just stay away and won't get in trouble with NSAC or nothing."
