Paddy Pimblett may not accept Jared Gordon rematch after close win, says Chael Sonnen

Chael Sonnen recently weighed in on potential matchups for Paddy Pimblett following his win against Jared Gordon at UFC 282. He believes an immediate rematch seems logical.

Sonnen uploaded a video to his YouTube channel, during which he discussed the controversial unanimous decision win and what could be next for Paddy Pimblett in the lightweight division.

The former UFC middleweight title challenger mentioned that 'The Baddy' vs. Gordon 2 is the only fight that makes sense at the moment, saying:

"I like the idea. Gordon vs. Pimblett part two. I don't have to see it in England. I don't have to see it in March, but I do like that idea and frankly I don't have a better one. I don't predict this is the direction they're going to go, but if you wanted to go in that direction, somebody is gonna have to suggest it. Gordon has now done his part."

'The American Gangster' then added that the Englishman shouldn't feel the need to fight 'Flash' again and that he will need more convincing because he won the fight.

He also questioned why 'The Baddy' would accept it given the backlash to the result. Nevertheless, he didn't have any better options to propose:

"Why would you ever return to the scene of the crime? Right? That's what dreams are made of, you pulled one off. Now you know good and well you're gonna have to give one back somewhere down the road but I couldn't blame Paddy for that but I just like the match. I don't have a better match."

It remains to be seen whether the UFC will book 'The Baddy' vs. 'Flash' again or if they decide to go in another direction.

Could Paddy Pimblett vs. Jared Gordon 2 take place in March?

Paddy Pimblett vs. Jared Gordon was arguably the biggest talking point following UFC 282 earlier this month.

The bout saw 'The Baddy' earn a controversial unanimous decision, with many in the MMA community, including active fighters, believing that 'Flash' should have been awarded the win. Since then, the two continue to be linked with each other and the best option for the UFC could be to book an immediate rematch.

While speaking with MMA Junkie, Gordon mentioned that he'd like a rematch with Paddy Pimblett and even offered to do it in London. With UFC 286 taking place at The O2 arena, that could be the most logical venue.

As well as 'The Baddy' receiving another home fight, the promotion could market the fight around the controversial decision at UFC 282.
