Paulo Costa is all for Jake Paul's fighters association, says "we should support him"

Paulo Costa has recently shown support for Jake Paul’s fighter union.

During the buildup for his boxing match with Anderson Silva, Paul made a deal with ‘The Spider.’ The former UFC middleweight champion agreed to help start a fighters’ association if he lost to ‘The Problem Child,’ which he did. The former YouTuber hopes to increase UFC fighter pay and improve overall business relationships.

Costa was doing an interview on The MMA Hour when Paul’s fighter union was discussed. Ariel Helwani asked the UFC middleweight contender if he supports ‘The Problem Child.’ The Brazilian responded by saying:

“I didn’t yet, but I think this is very helpful. This is a good thing happening right now. We should support him.”

Paul has named his fighter union the United Fighters Association (UFA). He recently provided an update on the legal research and recruitment of fighters being underway. The former YouTuber now has support from Georges St-Pierre, Silva, and Costa.

UFA (United Fighters Association) update:

1) Working with a law firm that specializes in labor & employment law.

2) Identifying key current & previous fighters to lead the interim board.

3) Logo design narrowed down to 3 finalists.

It’s time for fighters to come together. twitter.com/jakepaul/statu…

Paulo Costa believes he will fight for the UFC again after recent contract disputes

Jake Paul’s fighter union is more intriguing to Paulo Costa than ever. The Brazilian middleweight was supposed to fight Robert Whittaker at UFC 284 but pulled out due to a contract dispute. Costa believes he’s underpaid and wants to re-sign for a better deal before fighting out his current contract.

During the same interview with Ariel Helwani, the MMA journalist questioned Costa about fighting again in the UFC. He replied with:

“I actually don’t know. I love fighting. I love to fight. Yeah, I think I will fight [for the UFC]… I think we can fight for UFC, yeah, but I will not accept everything.”

The contract dispute between Paulo Costa and the UFC is starting to get messy. The number six ranked middleweight has made various allegations against Hunter Campbell and other UFC brass. He claimed the promotion pays Brazilian fighters less and won't negotiate fairly.

Costa has a UFC record of 6-2 with several highly-entertaining performances. The 31-year-old won his only fight of 2022 against Luke Rockhold, which set him up for the No.1 contender fight against Whittaker. It’s unclear when and who the Brazilian former middleweight title challenger will fight next.

Paulo Costa had Top 5 fights vs Yoel, Vettori, and then potentially Whittaker for 70/70

Paulo made 35K for Vettori (because of the substantial weight miss)

Paulo is holding out for more. Should there be a set limit for top 5 fights, top 10 fights, etc.?https://t.co/2wqEWMxSjK
