Paulo Costa reacts to Sean Strickland's latest call-out, unfazed by "wine" joke
Sean Strickland is seemingly plotting a potential banger against Paulo Costa. Having recently fought twice in less than 30 days, Strickland is seemingly hungry to fight again.
The middleweight contender recently posted a callout to former title challenger Costa in an Instagram video. Strickland said:
“Yo, Costa, I think we should fight, bro. It f*cking makes sense, you know. I don’t know if you’ll be drunk or be able to make weight, eating cookies – let’s make this sh*t happen.”
Strickland also made a wine reference, taking a dig at 'Borrachinha's wine excuse for his loss to Israel Adesanya. The caption read:
"I think me and @borrachinhamma should do the man dance? I'll even buy the wine..... What do you all think?"
However, Costa, who has seemingly aced the social media game, remained unfazed by Strickland's dig. The Brazilian instead mocked Strickland's outdated sense of humor, which according to him, is a result of brain damage. 'Borrachinha' wrote:
"Strickland deep, deep, deep down in his heart is a nice guy, I just think one of his many problems is because he's been shot several times in the head and now he's kind of living on a permanent concussion making jokes so old he couldn't think of something updated lolall good Bro👍"
Costa, however, gave credit to Strickland's courage.
Sean Strickland blasts Paulo Costa for demanding higher pay
Coming off a decision win over Luke Rockhold that ended a two-fight skid, Paulo Costa recently pulled out of a scheduled UFC 284 clash against Robert Whittaker. 'Borrachinha' also reportedly turned down a six-fight contract extension, demanding higher pay.
However, Sean Strickland doesn't believe Costa has done enough to justify his demands. Dana White has described 'Borrachinha' as a "nightmare to deal with" while talking about the Brazilian's failure to make weight against Marvin Vettori in 2021. Referring to Costa's weight fiasco, Strickland said in an interview with Helen Yee:
“Here’s the thing about Costa, and I like Costa, but he is also a f*ckhead. He doesn’t make weight, he’s an idiot, so it’s like, when you’re a f*ckhead and you go to the UFC and you say, ‘Hey, I want to do this’ – I almost fought Marvin Vettori on a two-day notice because his b*tch ass wouldn’t make weight. So it’s hard when you don’t do the right things, it’s hard to get the right things back.”
