Paulo Costa's new UFC contract: What did his manager/girlfriend say about 'Borrachinha's' new pay?
Top-ranked UFC middleweight fighter Paulo Costa is reportedly in the process of negotiating a new contract with the organization. Despite having one fight left on his current deal, Costa has expressed his intention to remain inactive until the terms of a new contract are agreed upon.
Fortunately for the fighter, his girlfriend and manager, Tamara Alves, appears to have made significant progress in securing a new four-fight deal with the UFC on his behalf. While the details of the contract have not been made public, it is clear that Costa and his team are eager to continue their successful partnership with the organization.
Tamara Alves recently told Ag. Fight that with the new contract, 'Borrachinha' could become the highest-paid Brazilian combatant in the UFC:
"Paulo Costa went from being one of the most devalued athletes to one of the most valued athletes in the UFC. I have no doubt that Paulo is the highest-paid Brazilian athlete in the organization today. I don’t know if you know any Brazilian athlete that is paid more than a million dollars per fight. I don’t....especially in non-title fights.”
In a previous interview with Ag.Fight, 'The Eraser' disclosed that he was offered a sum of $500,000 to show and $150,000 to win in negotiations for a potential fight against Robert Whittaker. However, the fighter ultimately declined the offer, indicating that it was not sufficient for his needs.
Paulo Costa has expressed interest in dueling Khamzat Chimaev and Sean Strickland if a contract can be reached.
Paulo Costa tweeted a 'fake news' about Israel Adesanya's withdrawal from UFC 287 main event
Paulo Costa, the self-proclaimed "Meme God," recently engaged in a social media prank that almost succeeded in fooling some UFC fans. Costa shared fake news on his social media accounts suggesting that Israel Adesanya had withdrawn from his upcoming UFC 287 fight against Alex Pereira.
On April 9, in an eagerly awaited middleweight title rematch, 'The Last Stylebender' will square off against his longtime adversary, Pereira, yet again. The fourth combat sports clash between the two rivals was awaited by fight fans, but 'Borrachinha' saw an opportunity to playfully ridicule them.
In a tweet, Costa asserted that Adesanya had pulled out of the fight because of an improbable injury. While the majority of fans saw the joke, others were fooled by the poster's realistic appearance.
