Paulo Costa shares surprised reaction to Ariel Helwani's throwback picture with Craig Jones from 2010
Paulo Costa had a hilarious response to Ariel Helwani's throwback picture with legendary jiu-jitsu practitioner Craig Jones.
Earlier this week, Jones appeared on The MMA Hour hosted by Helwani to discuss his new grappling tournament, The Craig Jones Invitational. Following the interview, they took a picture together that was later posted by the MMA media pioneer on Instagram.
Helwani's Instagram post also featured a picture of him with Jones in 2010, with the following caption:
"Great to see you again, @craigjonesbjj. Dare I say, we look exactly as we did back in 2010. Good luck in August."
Paulo Costa took to the comment section and reacted to the 2010 throwback picture of Helwani and Jones together:
"He gets old and @arielhelwani gets Chad wtf."
Ariel Helwani has been covering the sport of mixed martial arts for over 15 years. To this day, the 41-year-old journalist continues to interview most of the top names in combat sports for his popular show, The MMA Hour.
Paulo Costa looks to bounce back against Sean Strickland at UFC 302
Paulo Costa last fought against former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker on February 17 at UFC 298. Despite an impressive showing, Costa wasn't able to secure a win in the matchup between top-ranked 185-pounders, as Whittaker emerged victorious by unanimous decision.
On Saturday night, June 1, Costa returns to action during the UFC 302 co-main event, which takes place inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Brazilian fan favorite's latest opponent will be another former UFC middleweight champion, Sean Strickland.
Despite coming off a loss, 'Borrachinha' could quickly place himself back in the middleweight title picture with a win against Strickland. It'll be easier said than done, as the former 185-pound king is also focused on bouncing back after being dethroned by Dricus du Plessis by split decision on January 20.
At the moment, Du Plessis is expected to defend his middleweight throne against Israel Adesanya later this year. In the meantime, Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker will determine the next title contender when they fight on June 22 at UFC Saudi Arabia.
