"I don’t even remember how speak Brazilian anymore" - Paulo Costa trolls Henry Cejudo for recent comments on his Mexican heritage
Paulo Costa recently reacted to Henry Cejudo's speech that he gave at Republican candidate Kari Lake's event.
In his speech, Cejudo stated that he's an American first while expressing his gratitude towards the nation. He also added that people will never see him carrying the Mexican flag:
"My message today, guys as a Latino-American... Because first and foremost, I'm American. I was born in this country. I was raised in this country. As much as I love my culture – you guys will never see me with a Mexican flag."
Brazilian middleweight contender Paulo Costa, who's known for his entertaining persona and rib-tickling content on Twitter, hilariously reacted to the speech that Cejudo gave in support of Kari Lake.
'The Eraser' called Cejudo a true patriot for the comments on his Mexican heritage and added that he had himself forgotten how to speak in his native tongue:
"Truly patriotic! God bless you bro. I’m too! I don’t even remember how [to] speak Brazilian anymore."
Costa, who's been training extensively on American soil of late, launched another tweet soon after. The former title challenger jokingly stated that if his English doesn't improve, he will be rendered a "mute":
"If I don’t learn how speak [to] English quickly I can be mute."
Costa was last seen in the octagon against Luke Rockhold at UFC 278. He won the fight via unanimous decision and has been persistently calling out undefeated up-and-comer Khamzat Chimaev for a fight.
Henry Cejudo believes Paulo Costa will be a tough matchup for Khamzat Chimaev
Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev are at loggerheads. The feud began when Costa sided with Nate Diaz ahead of Chimaev's originally scheduled fight at UFC 279, which ultimately didn't materialize.
They were even seen arguing at the UFC Performance Institute and the back-and-forth between the duo is seemingly brimming with animosity.
Henry Cejudo weighed in on the idea of a potential matchup between the two after Chimaev's coach stated that his pupil's next fight will probably be in the middleweight division.
The former two-division UFC champion used Costa's fight against Yoel Romero as an example to point out that Chimaev will have a hard time against 'Borrachinha'. Cejudo predicts that 'Borz's wrestling pressure will be neutralized and Costa will emerge victorious:
"Paulo Costa is always digging to the body. He’s got power in his hands. He’s always looking for that left body shot. He’s going to welt you over. I’m going Paulo Costa. Why? Because I think the wrestling is going to be neutralized, and I do believe that he’s a little more experienced in the UFC than Khamzat Chimaev.”
