Pedro Munhoz and Chris Gutierrez are set to fight on April 15

The UFC announced another intriguing contest for their April 15 Fight Night 222 card. The promotion has booked bantamweights Pedro Munhoz and Chris Gutierrez for a matchup for the upcoming event.

MMA reporter Marcel Dorff first reported the match-up on his Twitter account:

"Pedro Munhoz will fight Chris Gutierrez at UFC event on April 15th. (per@CCLegaspi) #UFC #MMA #UFCESPN #UFC2023."

Pedro Munhoz, who is currently ranked 9th, was most recently in the octagon for UFC 276 against Sean O'Malley. The match was ruled a 'No Contest' after an accidental eye poke from O'Malley. The Brazilian fighter has performed well, having won 8 out of his last 13 contests. His overall record is 19 wins, five of which were by knockout, eight by submission and eight by first-round finishes, with only seven losses.

Gutierrez, on the other hand, was most recently in the cage with Frankie Edgar, earning a first-round knockout victory. His record stands at 18 wins, nine of those by knockout, eight by decision, and four by way of first-round finish. He has lost only three times throughout his career. The No. 12 ranked fighter has been successful in 10 of his last 12 fights.

Given the recent performances of both fighters, it will be intriguing to observe if the Brazilian athlete can turn things around and gain a victory or if the American competitor can continue to be successful and add another win to his current run.
