“People had no belief in me” - Jonathan Haggerty says everyone doubted him against Thai legend
Reigning and undisputed ONE bantamweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion 'The General' Jonathan Haggerty of the United Kingdom is no stranger to proving doubters wrong.
In fact, he's been doing it his entire career.
However, Haggerty's penchant for scoring massive upsets was no more evident than when he faced Thai legend Nong-O Hama in April of 2023.
'The General' described the magnitude of that showdown on his official YouTube channel:
"So we went ahead and took the fight. Like I say, take risks and prosper. When it got announced, a lot of people had no belief in me, but it didn't matter. As long as me and my coaches have got belief and we were confident, that's all that mattered."

Haggerty headlined ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video against the Thai icon, and won via first-round knockout.
Up to that point, no one had been able to give Nong-O a worthy challenge in the ONE Championship ring, so very few gave Haggerty even a remote chance to win.
'The General' then pulled off the upset of a lifetime when he made quick work of Nong-O to capture the bantamweight Muay Thai crown.
