"People are catching on" - Mikey Musumeci thrilled that more grapplers are finally earning the well-deserved big bucks
ONE flyweight submission grappling king Mikey Musumeci is happy about the current development and growth of the submission grappling community, especially the compensation they are receiving from competing.
Musumeci discussed this during his interview with Cageside Press, and stated:
"We're making money. But my guys, that's what I was doing. What the hell? But it's the same thing. I feel like people are catching on and realizing there's different game when there's money involved."
Currently, CJI is one of the tournaments that hand out a hefty amount of prize of $1 million.
Aside from CJI, ONE Championship is also another promotion that generously compensates grapplers who are signed with the promotion.
Aside from their guaranteed money from their contracts, they also have the chance to bag an additional $50,000 bonus if they perform well during their fights or get a spectacular finish against their opponents.
This bonus is handed out by ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, and 'Darth Rigatoni' has received this multiple times already during his seven-fight campaign under the world's largest martial arts organization.
Mikey Musumeci to challenge Kade Ruotolo for ONE lightweight submission grappling world title at ONE 168: Denver
After beating every challenger that was pitted against him and having pit stops in higher weight classes where he still defeated the likes of Shinya Aoki (openweight match) and Gabriel Sousa (bantamweight match), the 28-year-old BJJ black belt has stepped up to another massive challenge in his career.
On Sept. 6, Musumeci will move up to the lightweight division to challenge the current undisputed king Kade Ruotolo for his 26-pound golden belt in the co-main event of ONE 168: Denver, which will take place inside the Ball Arena in Colorado.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
