Petr Yan shares eye-opening remark about Sean O'Malley's absence from UFC and rematch: "Maybe he got pregnant"

Sean O'Malley is in the crosshairs of Petr Yan for a rematch with the latter roasting the former for his absence from the MMA world as of late. O'Malley has largely been silent as far as the who, what, where, when, and why of his next contest after losing his 135-pound title. He lost the UFC bantamweight belt in a fairly one-sided loss to Merab Dvalishvili on points in September.

While O'Malley might be potentially looking for a Dvalishvili rematch to regain that strap, it seems like a different former opponent of 'Suga' wants a sequel clash with the colorful combatant.

Appearing recently on The Ariel Helwani Show, Yan spoke with the titular figure about several subjects including what could represent an ideal next step for him as a fellow former UFC bantamweight champion.

Voicing his thoughts in a joking manner regarding wanting to tie up his series with O'Malley, Yan said:

"I would lean towards a rematch with Sean O'Malley but I don't know what's going on with him. He's out for nine to twelve months. So maybe he got pregnant."

Sean O'Malley and the path back to UFC competition

Sean O'Malley is one of the biggest figures in mixed martial arts today and the MMA community is curious about his return. Part of the uncertainty surrounding O'Malley is due to his recovery timeline for a torn labrum in his hip. This injury was dealt with through surgery following his title-losing effort to Merab Dvalishvili, with the procedure transpiring in early October.

The 30-year-old took to his YouTube channel and said he is now back to limited training. Speaking to his coach Tim Welch on the Timbo-Sugar Show, the former UFC titleholder said while wrestling is currently off limits, he has resumed mitt work and light sparring.

'Suga' mentioned he might be able to pick up grappling and drilling again in two or three weeks. However, at this point of recovery, such activities still cause discomfort.

The Montana native is waiting on further updates on his recovery process but mentioned that April could be a realistic timeline for his return to the cage.
