Brittney Palmer reveals how she broke retirement news to Dana White

Brittney Palmer announced her retirement as a UFC octagon girl while accepting her fifth 'Ringcard Girl of the Year' award on Dec. 14. In an interview with MMA Junkie, Palmer revealed she had tried to inform UFC CEO Dana White via text, but he didn’t respond. Palmer said:

“I had actually tried to text him and tell him what I wanted to do and he kind of just like didn’t respond. I wasn’t going to chase him. I was like, ‘Dana, I need to talk to you for two minutes.’ It was after Thanksgiving and I just thought it would’ve been the right thing to do to let him know that I was planning on retiring. I didn’t hear back from him, so I was like, ‘Well, I guess he’s going to have to find out at the award show.'"

Palmer continued:

“I went up to him and pulled him backstage. I was like, ‘Listen, I’m retiring.’ He’s like, ‘Wait, what?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ve been trying to tell you.’ He’s like, ‘I thought you wanted to talk about something else.’ I’m like, ‘No, this is what I want.’ He was like, ‘Well, what are you going to do?’ He was excited for me. I think he assumed something was going to come eventually.”
