Photos: Shavkat Rakhmonov pokes fun at golden gloves ahead of UFC 310 clash with Ian Garry

Shavkat Rakhmonov shared a humorous Instagram post ahead of his clash with Ian Garry at UFC 310. The event is set to take place on Dec. 8 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, United States.

Originally scheduled to fight for the title, Rakhmonov saw his plans change when reigning UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad withdrew due to a bone infection in his left foot. Now, he is set to face Garry in what is likely a title eliminator bout.

'Nomad' shared snaps of himself practicing with UFC golden gloves at Kill Cliff FC in Florida, which he won’t be using since his fight with Ian Garry is a non-title bout. The UFC introduced the golden gloves specifically for title fights, replacing the regular black ones. Humorously, he captioned the post:

"Who should I give the gold gloves to?"

‘The Future’ and Rakhmonov are both undefeated in their professional MMA careers, with 15-0 and 18-0 records, respectively. Garry is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Michael Page at UFC 303, while the Kazakh fighter is coming off a submission victory against Stephen Thompson at UFC 296 last December.

Belal Muhammad shares his thoughts on Ian Garry replacing him against Shavkat Rakhmonov for UFC 310

After Belal Muhammad pulled out of his fight against Shavkat Rakhmonov, the latter requested the UFC to book an interim title fight. But, the promotion did not grant the request.

As a result, he will now face Ian Garry, likely in a title contender eliminator bout, at UFC 310, the last pay-per-view event of UFC this year.

Speaking on the Anik & Florian Podcast, Muhammad was asked about the matchup. He responded by saying:

''I'm happy that there was no interim belt, I don't think it was needed but yeah I think the matchup makes a lot of sense especially when you're looking at the division.''
''It made more sense than Buckley and Ian Garry. I think Shavkat and Ian Garry, both undefeated, both guys are right there at the top and they both called each other out before Ian said he wanted that fight before, but it makes a lot of sense and I'm excited to see how it goes," he added.
