Photos and Videos: Khabib Nurmagomedov shows off skiing skills in snow-covered Utah in the middle of UFC 311 fight camp
Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov took a brief break from training Islam Makhachev to hit the slopes at Deer Valley Resort in Utah. In a series of photos and videos shared on social media, the retired MMA legend showcased his skiing attempts amid the pristine, snow-covered mountains.
Known for his meticulous coaching style, Khabib is preparing Makhachev for his highly anticipated title defense at UFC 311: Makhachev vs. Tsarukyan 2 on Jan. 18, 2025. The event, set to take place at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, will headline a rematch between Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan.
The two first faced off in 2019, with Makhachev emerging victorious via unanimous decision.
Despite the intense training schedule, Khabib's skiing adventure offered fans a glimpse of his lighter side. Although new to the sport, the undefeated MMA icon (29-0) appeared to relish the challenge.

Khabib Nurmagomedov names UFC fighters he believes should retire
Khabib Nurmagomedov has voiced his opinion on fighters he believes should step away from the octagon. Speaking on the Pound 4 Pound Show with Henry Cejudo, Nurmagomedov suggested that several veteran fighters, including Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, and Tony Ferguson, should consider retirement.
Poirier, who suffered a fifth-round submission loss to Islam Makhachev in a lightweight title fight at UFC 302 in June, had hinted at retirement before ultimately deciding to continue competing. Nurmagomedov, who defeated Poirier via third-round submission at UFC 242, believes his former rival's time in the sport has passed.
Gaethje, another of Nurmagomedov’s past opponents, was similarly dismissed as part of the “old school.” The undefeated Hall of Famer defeated Gaethje by second-round submission at UFC 254 in his final bout before retiring in 2020, following his father's death, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
Ferguson, though never sharing the octagon with Nurmagomedov despite being booked five times, was also named on the list:
"I think Poirier has to stop fighting. I think he's finished. Justin Gaethje, Khabib, Dustin Poirier, Tony Ferguson, this is old school, brother. Stop fighting. We have to recognize real things."
