"Please do not hurt that girl" - Fans react as Paige VanZant comes face-to-face with Elle Brooke first time for "unfair" matchup

Paige VanZant is preparing to step into the boxing ring for the first time against Misfits middleweight champion Elle Brooke. The much-anticipated match will be the main event of MF & DAZN: X Series 15, taking place on Saturday, May 25 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Brooke, who gained fame through her work on social media and OnlyF*ns, made her boxing debut last year with the Misfits organization. She captured the middleweight title with a knockout victory against Andrea-Jane Bunker in January.

VanZant, on the other hand, was in the UFC before transitioning to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) in 2021. She is returning to the ring after a break of more than two years. Her last fight was a decision loss to Rachael Ostovich at BKFC 19.

As the fight date nears, the two fighters recently had a face-off, which VanZant shared on social media.

Paige VanZant opens up on her sporting mismatch with upcoming opponent

Following the announcement from Misfits, the upcoming fight between Paige VanZant and Elle Brooke has sparked considerable debate about the apparent mismatch in their combat sports backgrounds.

VanZant discussed the disparity during a recent interview. The 30-year-old fighter likened the bout to her UFC debut against Felice Herrig, whom she defeated.

Speaking to MMA Fighting, '12-Gauge' said:

"She [Elle Brooke] is going to come trained and prepared, she's going to be working extremely hard. I watched her last few fights and she's very tough. I'm putting the same into it as if I'm fighting Felice Herrig again. I'm gonna get ready for war"
