Post-UFC 307 rankings update: Alex Pereira fails to topple Islam Makhachev in P4P list, two veterans kicked out of top 10 and more
Alex Pereira notched his third UFC light heavyweight title defense courtesy of a fourth-round TKO of Khalil Rountree Jr. in the headlining match of UFC 307 on Oct. 5, 2024. Despite putting on an incredible performance, Pereira hasn't moved up in the men's pound-for-pound rankings.
The co-headlining match saw Julianna Pena defeat Raquel Pennington via split decision to become a two-time UFC women's bantamweight champion. As reported by John Morgan, Pena has moved up to the No. 4 spot in the women's pound-for-pound rankings.
Kayla Harrison bested Ketlen Vieira via unanimous decision, likely setting up a title shot against Pena. Harrison moved up one spot to No. 2 at bantamweight and up two spots to No. 9 in the women's pound-for-pound ranks.
Moreover, the women's bantamweight ranks currently have ex-champ Raquel Pennington at No. 1. Ketlen Vieira dropped a spot to No. 3, and Mayra Bueno Silva moved up a spot and is now tied with Irene Aldana at No. 6.
Also, in the women's pound-for-pound rankings, four of the following fighters dropped one spot respectively - Manon Fiorot is now ranked No. 5, Tatiana Suarez stands at No. 10, Yan Xiaonan at No. 11 and Jessica Andrade at No. 14.
The light heavyweight rankings remain unchanged. Khalil Rountree Jr. retained his No. 8 position and reigning 205-pound champion Alex Pereira retained his No. 2 spot in the men's pound-for-pound rankings.
As listed on the UFC's official website, UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev stayed firm in his position as the No. 1-ranked men's pound-for-pound fighter, and UFC women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko retained her position as the No. 1-ranked women's pound-for-pound fighter.
Two veteran MMA fighters removed from the top 10 after UFC 307
MMA great Jose Aldo suffered a split decision defeat against Mario Bautista at UFC 307, resulting in Aldo losing his top-10 position. Aldo dropped one spot to No. 11, and Bautista rose two spots to No. 9. The other changes in the men's bantamweight division were Marlon Vera moving up a spot to No. 6, Henry Cejudo dropping a position to No. 7 and Rob Font moving down a spot to No. 10.
Joaquin Buckley defeated 170-pound veteran Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson via third-round KO at UFC 307. It helped Buckley move up two spots to No. 9. Thompson dropped two spots to No. 11 and has been removed from the coveted top-10 ranks. Sean Brady moved up one spot to No. 5 and Colby Covington dropped one spot to No. 6 at welterweight.
The women's flyweight rankings remain unchanged after UFC 307. The women's strawweight rankings saw Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Ribas move up one spot each to No. 6 and No. 7 respectively. Five others dropped one spot each - with Tabatha Ricci now No. 10, Loopy Godinez No. 11, Angela Hill No. 12, Luana Pinheiro No. 13 and Gillian Robertson No. 14.
Iasmin Lucindo bested Marina Rodriguez via split decision in their strawweight clash, which has pushed Lucindo up six spots to No. 8 and Rodriguez down three spots to No. 9.
