Post-UFC Edmonton rankings update: Rose Namajunas falls, Aiemann Zahabi kicks Dominick Cruz out of top 15 at 135 pounds, movement in women's P4P
UFC Edmonton’s Fight Night at Rogers Place saw major shifts in the rankings after intense bouts on November 2. Headlining the event, Brandon Moreno returned to form with a decisive victory over Amir Albazi, while several other fighters made statements that shook up the roster rankings.
Moreno, a former two-time flyweight champion, successfully held his No. 2 position after a dominant display against Albazi. Throughout the five rounds, Moreno’s striking precision kept Albazi on the defensive, leading to a unanimous decision win and Moreno’s status as the first fighter to defeat Albazi in the UFC.
As per reports by senior MMA Journalist John Morgan, Albazi remains in the No. 3 spot, while Moreno retains his No. 2 rank, showing no movement in the flyweight standings.
In the co-main event, Rose Namajunas suffered a setback against Erin Blanchfield. After a promising start, Namajunas couldn’t hold off Blanchfield’s grappling advantage in later rounds, resulting in a unanimous decision loss.
Blanchfield remains at No. 4 in the women’s flyweight division but gains traction in the women’s pound-for-pound (P4P) list, moving to No. 6.
Namajunas, however, drops to No. 6 in her division and No. 8 in the pound-for-pound standings. Women’s flyweight competitor Jasmine Jasudavicius also moves up to No. 13 after a strong submission win over Ariane da Silva.
Jacqueline Cavalcanti debuts in the women’s bantamweight rankings at No. 15, tied with Germaine de Randamie.
Aiemann Zahabi replaces Dominic Cruz; Pedro Munhoz out of the bantamweight top 15
Bantamweight contender Aiemann Zahabi’s tactical victory over Pedro Munhoz propelled him to No. 14 in the bantamweight division, replacing former champion Dominick Cruz. This ranking shift highlights Zahabi’s consistent form, while Munhoz drops from the top 15 list.
In the heavyweight division, Alexandr Romanov and Rodrigo Nascimento drop from the rankings following their bout, making room for Waldo Cortes-Acosta at No. 14 and the undefeated Mick Parkin at No. 15.
