Power Slap League accused of lying about social media engagement amid big claims by Dana White

Dana White's Power Slap League has failed to stay out of controversy since its very inception.

The slap-fighting league is once again at the center of controversy, this time over false claims regarding social media engagement. Following in the footsteps of the UFC, Power Slap League also displayed comments from fans (as the sport doesn't have pundits yet) on their live broadcasts.

Power Slap recently put up two comments, allegedly from Twitter accounts named @Aleksis_Vilums and @CjGaudet14, which read as follows:

"Wow the slap delivered by Rivero was crazy!!"
"Wow Doryan Perez is a bad man"

MMA Junkie's Matthew Wells did some commendable digging to find out that the comments did not show any results upon being searched on Twitter. Wells also found that the accounts linked to the posts had not posted anything since January 25, while the comments were shown yesterday.

Dana White makes boisterous claims about Power Slap viewership numbers

Slap fighting has been widely slammed as a sport devoid of any logic, as it leaves competitors unable to defend themselves against direct strikes to the face/head. However, that did not stop UFC President Dana White from starting his own slap-fighting league.

White claimed that the sport will go on anyway and will be better regulated under him. Despite roping in referees from the UFC and inviting guests like Hasbulla and Mark Wahlberg, the hour-long show's viewership has only declined over time.

However, Dana White adamantly claims that Power Slap viewership is almost at par with the NBA and NFL. According to the UFC head honcho, Power Slap does 38.5 million views a week on Instagram and close to a billion on TikTok. The 53-year-old said in a recent interview with Robbie Fox:

"It has been pretty good actually. We are going into our sixth episode here.... I mean, the numbers have been off the charts for us. Over a billion views on social media. On Instagram alone, it's doing 38.5 million views a week... and on TikTok alone we are at almost a billion. Rumble had the international rights for it and those numbers are up around 10 million views."
"There was one night where we went head-to-head with the NBA and that game was when Kyrie [Irving] moved over to the Dallas Mavericks.... and played for Dallas against the Clippers. They did 5,70,000 viewers. We did like 3,17,000 viewers on our fourth episode. They [NBA] promoted the sh*t out of that game [and] we got no promotion."
