"Proper Whiskey vs. Secret juice is going down" - Paulo Costa hilariously calls out Conor McGregor
Paulo Costa has seemingly called out Conor McGregor. The self-proclaimed 'Meme God', whose social media antics are a hot topic among MMA fans, claims he has called out the biggest superstar in the sport three times, but to no avail.
In a hilarious tweet posted by 'Borrachinha', he claimed that the UFC agreed to make a potential fight between himself and 'The Notorious' happen. He wrote on Twitter:
"Just to let you all know, I called Conor McGregor out to fight 3 times and the UFC agreed but he said he was sick for the first time and now he said he will be out enjoying Christmas with family... Proper Whiskey vs. Secret juice is going down."
Paulo Costa's social media game has emerged as the talk of the town over the last year or so. The former title challenger's self-deprecating humor, constant jibes at USADA and hilarious memes have seen him blossom into a fan favorite.
Costa last fought Luke Rockhold at UFC 278, a memorable three-round bout which he won via unanimous decision. A fight against Conor McGregor is improbable to say the least, and the middleweight contender is gearing up for his next fight against Robert Whittaker.
The two top-ranked 185-pounders will square off at UFC 284 in Australia next year.
Michael Chandler continues to call out Conor McGregor
At the UFC 281 post-fight presser, Dana White revealed that Conor McGregor will return to action next year. With regards to who he'll face upon his return, Michael Chandler appears to be the frontrunner.
Chandler put on an impressive display against Dustin Poirier at the recent UFC 281 pay-per-view in New York City. After an explosive first round wherein both lightweights had moments of success, 'Iron' dominated the second frame using his wrestling. Unfortunately for the former Bellator champion, he was submitted in the final round of their bout, which rightfully won Fight of the Night honors.
Despite holding a 2-3 record in the UFC, Chandler has established himself as one of the most entertaining fighters on the roster.
At the post-fight presser, Chandler reiterated his desire to fight McGregor. He told reporters:
"At this point, he comes back and he looks at the suitors. I don't think it's the easiest fight that he could take, but I do think I'm the biggest fight. Conor McGregor stepping into the octagon does big numbers no matter what, but he and I step into the octagon and we do staggering numbers. I respect him. Would love to see him come back."
This isn't the first time Chandler has called for a fight against the former two-division champion. After his sensational knockout victory over Tony Ferguson earlier this year, 'Iron' cut a pro-wrestling style promo to call for a welterweight bout against the Irishman.
