Β UFC Featherweight says that the UFC would not make Sean O'Malley vs Aljamain Sterling

Bryce Mitchell recently gave his take on a potential matchup between Sean O'Malley and Aljamain Sterling.

In a recent interview with James Lynch, featherweight prospect Bryce Mitchell opined that the UFC is against booking a fight between bantamweight champ Aljamain Sterling and Sean O'Malley. According to 'Thug Nasty', the promotion is trying to "protect" O'Malley as he is "worth the money".

Mitchell claimed that 'Sugar' would not fare against Sterling's superior fighting skills. Consequently, the UFC is not booking O'Malley against the bantamweight champ to protect him from a potential loss against Sterling.

Speaking about the potential matchup between 'Sugar' and 'The Funk Master', Mitchell said:

"Well, the reason they're not having the Sterling-O'Malley fight is because they... want Aljamain to do anything but fight O'Malley right now. Because you know they're trying to protect the guy that's worth the money. And O'Malley would get destroyed if he fought Sterling. And I think he knows that too. And that's why he's not over here saying he wants a title shot."

He continued:

"But Aljo would kill him...I can just tell by the way he [Sean O'Malley] fought Yan that Sterling's gonna kill him...He's not ready to fight Aljo and maybe if Aljo gets hurt or something then he could have a chance at the title shot...But he can wait till Aljo gets hurt and can't fight or till Aljo retires."

On a recent edition of his TimboSugarShow podcast, bantamweight contender Sean O'Malley gave his take on the upcoming middleweight title event:

"I would love to see him go out there and win. It would be sad to see - I like Alex. I met him once...he's giant, he's f**king terrifying, he's a scary human being - but I'd love to see Izzy win. With those little gloves and those guys are both that high-level strikers, that's a f**king coin flip, but I do agree with you, I think Izzy has more tricks, especially in an octagon."
