Lewis announced his retirement from MMA in June 2017, following a fourth-round TKO loss to Mark Hunt. However, the record holder for most knockout victories in the UFC quickly overturned the hasty decision and returned to fighting. He raked in three straight victories before earning the first shot at the coveted UFC gold against Daniel Cormier at UFC 230.
