“Ready for everything” - Jake Peacock leaving no stone unturned for Shinji Suzuki test in Atlanta
Exciting Muay Thai prospect Jake Peacock is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for a scrap with Japanese standout Shinji Suzuki.
Following a dominant performance against Kohei Shinjo in his promotional debut at ONE Friday Fights 58 in April, 'The One' will return to the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok for a clash with the 38-year-old Suzuki at ONE 169: Atlantia on Friday, Nov. 8.
Ahead of their highly anticipated clash inside State Farm Arena, the limb-different sensation spoke with Sportskeeda MMA to discuss some of his opponents' strengths.
"Suzuki is a good opponent," Peacock said. "He’ll be a strong boxer and he likes that low kicks. But we’ll be ready for everything that he’s going to bring."
Overall the British-Canadian fan favorite is 13-1 in his Muay Thai career. With a win over Suzuki, Peacock will take another big step toward establishing himself as a legitimate threat in the promotion's loaded bantamweight Muay Thai division.
Jake Peacock believes ONE 169: Atlanta could be bigger than promotion's smashing success in Denver
When ONE Championship makes its debut in 'Hotlanta' this fall, many of the promotion's biggest stars will be in tow.
ONE 169: Atlanta is scheduled to feature four epic ONE world title fights—chief among them being a ONE heavyweight MMA world championship showdown between three-division king Anatoly Malykhin and Senegalese sensation Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane.
Also on the docket is the return of two-division champ Christian Lee who defends his ONE lightweight MMA title against Alibeg Rasulov. Then, of course, you can't forget about 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon who runs it back with Jacob Smith for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship.
Rounding out the top of the card will be a trilogy fight between Tawanchai and 'Smokin' Jo Nattawut for the ONE featherweight Muay Thai crown.
"I do think it's one of their biggest cards of the year," Peacock said while speaking about ONE 169: Atlanta. "I mean the Denver card was a great turnout, they had some quality fights there, but this card is just stacked -- maybe more.
Which fight are you most excited to see when ONE Championship invades The Peach State?
