"Ready to face anything" - Amir Aliakbari fully geared up for pivotal heavyweight clash versus 'Buchecha' at ONE 169
Iranian mixed martial arts standout Amir Aliakbari admits he's prepared for every imaginable scenario when he returns to action at ONE 169. The AAA Team martial artist has a chance to build a five-fight winning streak when he takes to the hallowed grounds of the iconic Lumpinee Stadium alongside Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida on Nov. 8.
Knowing the dangers and the strengths the 17-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion brings, Amir Aliakbari hasn't wasted a split second to guarantee his chances at another big W in Bangkok, Thailand.
Touching on his preparedness for this three-round heavyweight MMA tilt, the 36-year-old told ONE Championship:
"I am ready to face anything that he brings to the fight. My plan is [to] do well and have a spectacular fight."
Given the form he's in, entertainment is a near-certainty. Aliakbari has crushed everyone in his path after suffering a two-match skid at the start of his tenure on the global stage.
Most recently, he used his colossal power to ram through former ONE heavyweight world champion Arjan Bhullar, with the latter being handed a red card (disqualification) due to timidity.
If all goes to plan, Aliakbari can be on the way to another massive win inside the Mecca of Muay Thai and move a step closer to Anatoly Malykhin's heavyweight crown.
North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription can catch the entire ONE 169 card live in U.S. primetime for free this Friday, Nov. 8.
'Buchecha' shares similar desire as Amir Aliakbari to ensure he gets his hand raised in upcoming clash
Like Amir Aliakbari, 'Buchecha' has left no stone unturned to make sure he leaves the ring with his hand raised come fight night.
In an interview with ONE Championship, the American Top Team and Evolve MMA standout admitted that he's gone above and beyond for this fight camp to finish the Iranian inside the distance.
He said:
"It's hard to make a prediction. But, if possible, I'd like to end the fight before three rounds, either by submission or knockout. I've trained a lot for this."
