Regis Prograis exposes Jack Catterall’s manager in leaked DM saying he would smash ‘El Gato’ in wild moment at press event

Regis Prograis and Jack Catterall are scheduled to square off in the boxing ring on Oct. 26 in a thrilling matchup. The American will be eager to bounce back from his loss to Devin Haney in December, whilst his opponent is riding a three-fight winning streak and is full of confidence.

The pair attended the pre-fight press conference on Oct. 24, where the former WBC champion caught the attention of much of the boxing world. Near the end of the media scrum, 'Rougarou' played a voice note that Catterall's manager, Sam Jones, had sent him a few years earlier.

During the voice note, played in front of the entire press conference, Jones could be heard saying that he believed Prograis would "flatten" his now-client in a fight.

The New Orleans native said this:

"A long time ago Sam Jones, [Catterall's manager], Sam said I would beat Jack's a*s. A long time ago, and I got proof right now if y'all want to hear it. I've got proof."

Jones initially responded with this:

"Right hand to God, I never said that. Listen, you've been hit in the head too much by Devin Haney my friend."

The 35-year then played the voice-note, in which the boxing manager said this:

"I like Jack by the way, I know him very well. But I do think you flatten him, you understand what I mean. Because you're a different guy to Josh Taylor."

Eddie Hearn breaks down Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis

Regis Prograis will return to the ring for the first time this year when he faces off against Jack Catterall at the Co-op Arena in Manchester, England.

The pair were initially scheduled to fight in August before an injury suffered by the Englishman forced him to withdraw from the bout.

It will be a fascinating clash, with both fighters on the elite end of the light welterweight spectrum. With just days until they meet in the squared circle, Eddie Hearn recently broke down the fight during an interview with Boxing News, wherein he said:

"I think [Catterall] is a favorite, he's coming off one of the best performances against Josh Taylor. I think Regis just kind of lost his way against Zorrilla and Devin Haney... I think you're gonna see a more aggressive Regis Prograis in this fight. I make Jack the favorite in the fight, but I do think it's 50/50. Two real world class talents."
