Report: Conor McGregor set to appear before High Court in Ireland for alleged assault on woman
Conor McGregor has not competed in combat sports in more than three years as he last entered the octagon when he broke his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021. While he has been inactive in the sport, 'The Notorious' has remained busy outside of mixed martial arts. He has also found himself in his share of controversies, with the latest incident surrounding an assault against a woman that allegedly took place in 2018.
As reported by the Irish Mirror, following multiple delays in the case, the former double champ is now set to appear in High Court on Nov. 5. The trial was originally set to begin in late June or early July, however, McGregor successfully got the hearing adjourned due to his scheduled highly-anticipated return to the UFC against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June. He ultimately withdrew from the bout due to a pinky toe injury and has not returned.
McGregor reportedly requested another adjournment in the trial to take part in a boxing match. The case against 'The Notorious' was filed in 2021 and is one of two incidents he is facing due to alleged incidents in 2018. Details of the case or the allegations against him have not been made public yet, however, he has denied any wrongdoing.
Conor McGregor discusses UFC return, says a few names are being discussed
Conor McGregor's inactivity in mixed martial arts appeared to be coming to an end when he served as a coach on season 31 of 'The Ultimate Fighter', opposite Michael Chandler. The two were booked to clash at UFC 303, nearly a full year after the final episode of the show aired, however, 'The Notorious' was forced to withdraw due to a pinky toe injury.
The uncertainty around the bout led 'Iron' to temporarily move on, accepting a UFC 309 clash with Charles Oliveira. Speaking to The Schmo, McGregor was asked who he will face next. He responded:
"We're looking for the date. Hopefully, I'd like to square it away with Michael Chandler. I'd like to get Chandler in. We've had our beef. It's not settled. He has a match scheduled. I'd like to fight maybe before that - or before he's recovered and what not so there's a few names in line at the minute. There's a few names being discussed."

While McGregor did not name any opponents for his return, he did note that he would like to face two former opponents at some point. He claimed a trilogy with Nate Diaz and a tetralogy with Dustin Poirier are both big fights that he wants at some point, however, it is unclear if either would come in his return to the octagon.
