Robert Whittaker reveals his best superhero
Outside the cage, Robert Whittaker is known for his love of video games and superheroes. During a recent interview, the UFC star revealed who his best-ever superhero is, despite not liking him in his younger days.
The former middleweight champion is currently in pursuit of UFC gold and hopes to insert himself back into title contention with another strong performance next time out. 'The Reaper' is considered the second-best middleweight in the promotion behind former champion Israel Adesanya.
While discussing superheroes on James Lynch's MMA Pros Pick, Robert Whittaker revealed that, although he didn't like him as a child for his overly excessive amount of powers, his love for Superman has grown as he has aged:
"Oh that one, you see, I'm very big into that [superheroes] and my mind has changed a fair bit since I was a kid to now. But it has to be Superman, it has to be. I never used to like him because of just how overpowered he was, but now I like him because he's so overpowered. I got a lot of time for Superman."
Though Superman's live-action movies have been less than admirable, he is still considered to be one of the biggest superheroes ever created, arguably second above Marvel's Spider-Man and slightly below DC's Batman, who takes the top spot.
Fans recently became outraged at the news that the Kryptonian will no longer be portrayed by the lovable Henry Cavill, with director James Gunn opting to go in a different direction with the hero.
Despite not possessing any superpowers of his own, Robert Whittaker is a modern-day superhero for the people of his home country of Australia, as he was the first-ever UFC champion from that part of the world.

Robert Whittaker's push for another UFC title shot
While it's likely that Israel Adesanya will be given an immediate rematch against champion Alex Pereira after losing the title last month, Robert Whittaker will most probably be next in line if he wins in his next outing.
'Bobby Knuckles' is training hard as he prepares to compete at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia next year, with his opponent likely to be the always-dangerous Paulo Costa.
The division is stacked with potential title contenders, and a less-than-standout performance from Whittaker could well see the UFC look towards either Sean Strickland or Jared Cannonier to be next in line for a shot.
