Robert Whittaker shares he is "definitely thinking about" how he would fare at light heavyweight
While sitting down to discuss all things MMA, Robert Whittaker once again stated his interest in moving up to the light heavyweight division and testing his luck against those in the weight class. However, he hopes to recapture the UFC middleweight strap first.
Many consider 'The Reaper' to be the second-best 185er in the world behind Israel Adesanya. Though he has fallen short in a pair of title fights against 'The Last Stylebender,' the veteran will likely be given another shot at gold with a win at UFC 284.
Although he has a fight approaching, Robert Whittaker entertained the thought of moving up to the 205lbs division. While a potential middleweight title fight is on his mind, it's the curiosity about how he'll perform at 205lbs that sparks his interest the most.
"I'm definitely thinking about it [moving up to light heavyweight]. More than the openness of the division and everything else around it, it's more just because I'm curious to see how I would perform at a heavier weight limit. Curiosity, more than anything, sparks me. But they are big dudes. They are massive, guys. That Jiri [Prochazka], he's a monster... It might be in the cards. I'm still gunning for another shot at gold in the division that I am, but I'll worry about the future afterward."
The current light heavyweight division is filled with controversy following Jiri Prochazka's decision to vacate the title. Initially, the weight class was going to crown a new champion when Jan Blachowicz faced Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 282, but with the fight ending in a draw, the belt remains unclaimed.

The confusion surrounding Robert Whittaker's fight at UFC 284
Robert Whittaker quickly signed up to compete on the UFC 284 card as it will be his first chance to fight in his home country of Australia since losing his middleweight title Down Under three years ago.
Despite Whittaker being matched up against Paulo Costa, the Brazilian has, on multiple occasions, insisted that he hasn't agreed to any forthcoming fight.
'Borrachinha' has stated on social media that he isn't fighting Whittaker, though he is desperate to fight out his contract with the promotion and reportedly has just one bout left to complete before he's a free agent.
