Robert Whittaker shares significant update on his health following oral surgery after UFC 308 loss to Khamzat Chimaev

Robert Whittaker last entered the octagon in October as he suffered a first-round submission loss to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 308. 'The Reaper' recently provided an update on the injury that he suffered to his teeth during the bout. He shared that he has always had issues with his bottom teeth and ultimately had them removed during surgery.

Speaking on his podcast, MMArcade Podcast, the No.4-ranked middleweight stated:

"It's like the fear of hurting my bottom teeth, of them moving - because they've always been crap, I haven't been able to bite down on an apple since I was 19, right? They've always been bad and, I don't know, I should've dealt with them."

Whittaker's co-host, Jonny Roses, asked if he has gotten rid of his bottom teeth altogether, leading 'The Reaper' to share:

"Yeah, they're just gone. Don't need them. My life is better without them. Fun fact, though, when they took them out, they found a massive cyst in my jaw because apparently they think that might have been where the infections were coming from for the teeth."

Whittaker had picked up two wins in 2024 and was looking to work his way into the middleweight title picture with a victory over Chimaev. Instead, the No.4-ranked middleweight will likely take time to recover before attempting to work his way back into the mix.

Bo Nickal was not surprised with Khamzat Chimaev's performance against Robert Whittaker

Bo Nickal has expressed interest in facing Khamzat Chimaev and was impressed, but not surprised, by his victory over Robert Whittaker. The rising middleweight prospect appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show, where he said:

"I kind of thought he would do that to Whittaker. It's one thing to think that or to kind of see that happening, but he actually did it, which is super impressive. Whittaker is not an easy fight for anybody and he made it look easy so I was really impressed with his last performance and yeah. It seemed like he kind of took a different mentality into the fight, as well, which was cool to see."
