Rose Namajunas questions "suspicious" UFC Denver weigh-ins, reacts to Tracy Cortez's hair cut tactic
Rose Namajunas recently expressed concerns about the UFC Denver weigh-ins, which she considered strange. Namajunas also shared her thoughts on her opponent Tracy Cortez's hair-cutting strategy.
The promotion made its return to Colorado on July 13 at the Ball Arena, following Yair Rodriguez's stunning KO win over Chan Sung Jung in November 2018.
Namajunas faced Cortez in the main event in an effort to advance her run for the flyweight title. The former two-time UFC strawweight champion, who moved up to the flyweight division, is currently ranked No. 6 among UFC contenders.
Meanwhile, Cortez had won all five of her UFC bouts. She stepped in as a replacement for Maycee Barber who withdrew from the bout due to health concerns.
Namajunas dominated the entire contest, winning by unanimous decision with ease. The judges scored the contest 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47. However, Cortez's weigh-in footage was the one that attracted the most attention.
Having to lose nearly half a pound to reach the flyweight non-title mark, Cortez chopped off a large portion of her hair in order to reach the 126-pound weight limit. Even though it was to her advantage, the 30-year-old broke down in tears as she held the cropped hair and posed for the cameras.

During the post-fight press conference, Namajunas raised some questions about Cortez's "suspicious" UFC Denver weigh-in.
''I do feel like, I don't know who's in charge with making sure that the scale that you check your weight on before you get on the official scale, there's supposed to be the same. And they were not the same. So, whoever is in charge of that, I need to talk to because that was very, to me it was very suspicious or something, it didn't feel right.''
