Ryan Garcia dismisses rematch ultimatum from Devin Haney's father: "I don't need them at all"

Ryan Garcia has taken to X/Twitter with a response to the ultimatum issued by Devin Haney's father, Bill Haney. To no one's surprise, 'KingRy' was dismissive of Haney senior's terms, claiming that he doesn't need them.

So, despite the apparent interest from the Haney family in a rematch, Garcia is less than willing to entertain any proposals. In fact, he appears more concerned with facing other opponents. He took to X and wrote:

"You have to be dumb if you think ima listen to what Bill Haney request. First of all they are suing me. Second of all I don't need them at all. LMAO"

The ultimatum in question, for reference, entailed Garcia willingly entering the VADA anti-doping pool within 48 hours in order to greenlight the rematch. This comes off the back of Garcia's monumental fall from grace, which was precipitated by Garcia's positive test for ostarine, a performance-enhancing drug, in his fight with Devin Haney.

Garcia's majority decision win over Haney, which featured several knockdowns and instances of Haney being rocked, has now been overturned. It is now a no-contest and has been a serious blow to Garcia's public image, especially in light of his social media antics and controversial behavior.

As he is now serving a one-year suspension from boxing, Garcia's career has essentially stalled, but he will look to return to the ring as soon as possible and rectify the mistakes of his past.

There may be another reason a Devin Haney rematch doesn't interest Ryan Garcia

Ryan Garcia was found to have made Islamophobic and racist remarks on social media, which led to his expulsion from the WBC. This renders a potential rematch with Devin Haney far less appealing, as a victory over his rival wouldn't earn him a crack at the WBC super lightweight title.

As things currently stand, Garcia is directionless, but will look to carve out some path for himself. While controversial, he remains one of boxing's biggest names and will likely be booked for a matchup once his suspension is over.
