Ryan Garcia says Michael Jordan did nothing for people: "I don't give no fu*ks about six rings"
Ryan Garcia does not have many fond feelings for Michael Jordan. Specifically, the 25-year-old does not feel that the NBA icon has done anything "for the people."
Garcia was seen in a video filmed in a shoe store criticizing the six-time NBA champion for his lack of impact on the general community. 'King Ry' said he only cares about what basketball players do "outside of the court."
Garcia said:
"[Michael] Jordan ain't do s*** for the people. Jordan made some shoes. I don't give a f*** about no six rings, I care about what you did outside of the court. Anybody can [play basketball]. I could do that s*** too."
Since permanently retiring from basketball in 2003, Jordan is still considered by some to be the greatest player of all time. Regardless of the skill debate, 'MJ' is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential players in NBA history as his Air Jordan shoe brand has kept its popularity through 2024.
Jordan has remained in the sport since leaving the court as a player and continues to be a minority owner of the Charlotte Hornets franchise.
Has Ryan Garcia played basketball?
In his criticism of Michael Jordan, Ryan Garcia claimed that he could also play basketball. However, despite his prowess in boxing, there are no records of the 25-year-old having played organized basketball at a high level. The 'King' has been seen playing recreationally but did not attend college due to his commitment to boxing and did not appear to play basketball in high school.
In the limited footage publicly available of Garcia on the basketball court, fans have ridiculed the fighter for his lack of athleticism in the sport. The boxer has beaten other influencers in recorded one-on-one games but does not appear to have any formal basketball experience.
