"Say whatever you want, make fun of the government" - Sean Strickland jokes about how he would run a country as prime minister

Sean Strickland recently shared his vision of an ideal government and humorously detailed how he would run a country if he were Prime Minister. The former UFC middleweight champion is renowned for his candid and often incendiary perspectives on an array of socio-political issues.

In an interview on Fox Sports Australia's mainevent, Strickland was asked a hypothetical question about what actions he would take if he became the prime minister of 'The Land Down Under'.

'Tarzan' responded:

"It'll be great. The first thing I would do is give free speech. Hate speech isn't a thing. We're f**king striking that right off; there's no such thing as right off. Say whatever you want and make fun of the government. It'll be great, you guys will f**king love it."

During the fight week before his title bout against then-champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 293 in Sydney, Strickland found himself engulfed in controversies stemming from his divisive remarks about the Australian government.

The situation escalated to the extent that there were purported concerns about him being substituted for Jared Cannonier at the eleventh hour.

The 33-year-old American boldly stated that Australians lack the freedom to express themselves openly and expressed astonishment at the fact that Aussies cannot carry weapons without a state-approved exemption.

'Tarzan' is poised to square off against Paulo Costa in a five-round co-main event at UFC 302, slated for this Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Sean Strickland criticizes UFC's new gloves, doubts they'll prevent eye pokes in octagon

During Wednesday's media day for UFC 302, Sean Strickland vehemently criticized the creators of the new UFC gloves.

He aligned with lightweight champion Islam Makhachev's concerns that the stiffer mitts could lead to more cuts, saying:

"They suck. Can we talk to the person who designed these gloves? Have you ever been in a fight in your f**king life? It’s like you get these f**king dorks that have no idea. If you get cut because you get hit in the f**king head, don’t get hit in the f**king head; you don’t get cut."

He added:

"You get poked in the eyes because you f**king opened your hand, so don’t open your hands, and you won’t get poked in the eye. That’s people creating problems that aren’t there."

Saturday night will see fighters entering the octagon equipped with newly designed gloves. Dubbed the 3Eight for non-title bouts and the 5Eight for championship fights, these gloves were unveiled during UFC 300 fight week.

The gloves boast a redesigned anti-grab wristband locking system aimed at thwarting glove grabs during grappling exchanges. Additionally, they promise enhanced mobility and flexibility while endeavoring to reduce the likelihood of cuts and eye pokes.
