Sean O'Malley brainstorms reasons why UFC hasn't booked Henry Cejudo vs. Aljamain Sterling title fight yet

Sean O'Malley recently discussed possible reasons behind the delay in the booking of Aljamain Sterling's title defense against Henry Cejudo. While the fight has been confirmed by both parties involved, the UFC is yet to make an official announcement regarding the same.

O'Malley ruled out money being an issue in the booking of the fight as neither Cejudo nor Sterling is likely to get a raise. Joking about hiring a private investigator, 'Sugar' said on the TimboSugarShow:

"It drives me crazy dude. Why is this not happening? I don't think it's a money thing. The UFC would say, 'Alright, next guy'. It's not a money thing in my opinion. Henry literally retired because he wasn't getting paid enough and now he's broke and wants to come back...Aljo's not gonna get paid more, he's not a draw...Is it a weight thing? Is it an injury lingering? What is it? I gotta get to the bottom of this. I'm hiring a private investigator to follow them both around."

The UFC is reportedly targeting the Perth card in March for Cejudo's return to the octagon in a title fight against Sterling. O'Malley believes that weight shouldn't be an excuse for either party as there is ample time to make the cut.

Sean O'Malley believes Aljamain Sterling is reluctant to fight Henry Cejudo

Sean O'Malley climbed to the No.1-contender spot with a split decision win over Petr Yan in the toughest test of his career at UFC 280 in October. While 'Sugar' will seemingly have to wait for his shot at UFC gold, Aljamain Sterling's title fight with Henry Cejudo is yet to be made official.

Sean O'Malley has no doubts about Cejudo's intentions of returning to action and believes Sterling is responsible for the delay. According to the 27-year-old, 'Funk Master' either considers it a tough matchup or is simply being lazy about getting back to camp. 'Sugar' said on a previous episode of the TimboSugarShow:

“This is what I think ... Henry’s ready to go, I believe that. I think Henry’s wanted the fight. It’s not whether he’s coming back or not, I think he’s coming back. ‘Aljo’ doesn’t want that fight is what I’m seeing. I don’t know if he doesn’t want that fight because he thinks it’s a tough match up or if he just doesn’t want that fight because he doesn’t want to get back into fight camp. I don’t know. It could be neither. I think it’s both, personally.”
