Sean O'Malley and coach on Ilia Topuria performance at UFC 282
Sean O'Malley and his coach, Tim Welch, recently shared their thoughts on Ilia Topuria's dominant UFC 282 performance.
Topuria, who is set to enter the top ten of the featherweight rankings after handing Bryce Mitchell his first career loss, remains undefeated following a second-round submission victory.
Speaking on their podcast, TimboSugarShow, O'Malley said about Topuria:
"His low stance and his boxing is so clean... That was so sweet because Bryce is f**king good. We know how good Bryce is, especially on the ground. Ilia f**ked him up... When he got on the ground, I think DC was like, 'What does he do?' and then he just f**king smokes him on the ground. If that guy isn't one of your top five favorite fighters, he has to be."
Welch added:
"His style has got to be one of my favorite styles, just f**king clean. It's like motion in the open and everything, his counter punching, everything dude. He's going to be a f**king animal, the way he's just so composed. I mean in the top five, I think he's going to take some of those dudes... Some of the sweetest combos I've seen in a minute from that kid."
Topuria improved to 13-0 in his mixed martial arts career and 5-0 in the UFC since joining the promotion just over two years ago. Following the fight, he called for an opportunity to face Brian Ortega, the No.3-ranked featherweight.

Sean O'Malley shares thoughts on Paddy Pimblett's performance at UFC 282
Paddy Pimblett picked up a controversial unanimous decision victory over Jared Gordon that was met with backlash from fans and fighters alike. Sean O'Malley recently shared that he did not agree with the decision. However, he noted that the victory can help the unranked lightweight improve.
Speaking on his podcast, TimboSugarShow, the No.1-ranked bantamweight stated:
"I bet Paddy takes away from that fight and goes, 'Okay, I need to f**king dial in. This is the time where I need to dial in, not get fat as f**k, and get skilled, get more skilled.' Because he has skills. He knows how to perform. He's not bad. He has a lot of potential. Where is he gonna direct his energy? Is he gonna get better? Is he gonna get fatter? We will see."
While Pimblett's victory was controversial, his post-fight comments did him no favors as he claimed to have won all rounds convincingly in his post-fight interview. The ruling, combined with his comments, has put a target on Pimblett's back, he will need to improve in order to continue rising up the lightweight rankings.
