Sean O'Malley offers to save UFC 303's main event with blockbuster crossover fight against celebrity boxer

Sean O'Malley recently offered his services to save UFC 303 on short notice but proposed a crossover bout against a boxer. The reigning bantamweight champion proposed an idea that would see him compete in a blockbuster crossover rather than defending his title because of the timing.

There are currently doubts and fears that the UFC 303 main event between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler won't be transpiring. Their press conference in Dublin, Ireland was canceled and The MMA Hour host Ariel Helwani recently shared an update that didn't sound too optimistic.

With that in mind, 'Suga' took to his X account to propose a backup plan that would generate interest and ensure the event goes ahead with a suitable main event. O'Malley offered to fight Jake Paul, who is rumored to be fighting former UFC competitor Mike Perry in a boxing match next month. He wrote:

"I'll fight @jakepaul to save UFC 303"

Sean O'Malley vs. Jake Paul at UFC 303 is unlikely to happen

It's unclear whether Sean O'Malley was serious when he proposed a fight against Jake Paul for UFC 303 on June 29. Despite the obvious weight difference, there are several reasons why that bout is unlikely to happen inside the octagon.

'Suga' is currently the reigning UFC bantamweight champion and is linked to a bout against Merab Dvalishvili, who is undoubtedly the number-one contender. Meanwhile, the YouTuber-turned-boxer is rumored to be fighting former UFC competitor Mike Perry in a boxing match on July 20, which is the same date as his initially scheduled bout against Mike Tyson.

In addition, O'Malley vs. Paul can't materialize as they are under contract with two different promotions. 'Suga' is under contract with the UFC, while 'The Problem Child' is under contract with the PFL and it doesn't appear as though Dana White will be changing his stance on co-promoting any time soon.
