Sean O'Malley's coach muses what'd go through Alex Pereira's mind if he fights Khamzat Chimaev: "F*ck, I've never had someone on my back like this"

Sean O'Malley's coach gave his take on a potential showdown between Alex Pereira and Khamzat Chimaev. The individual emphasized Chimaev's intimidating wrestling skills and said that if the undefeated fighter could grab hold of Pereira inside the octagon, it would pose a huge problem for the Brazilian.

However, he also said that Pereira's size could cause issues for Chimaev.

Rumors of a possible showdown between Pereira and Chimaev has been circulating on the internet with many MMA personalities sharing their opinion on how a fight between the two would play out.

Among them was O'Malley's MMA coach, Tim Welch, who recently spoke with BKFC fighter Joe Riggs about a potential Pereira-Chimaev clash on his YouTube channel. Welch predicted that 'Borz's' relentless takedown attempts would lead to his triumph, saying:

''I mean right now obviously there's a puncher's chance but if Khamzat ends up getting on top of him [Pereira] getting a wrist ride but again Pereira's fuc**ng huge...he's going to walk in the cage probably 235...I mean that would be crazy because right now Pereira is such a big star for the UFC.''

Welch added:

''I feel like Khamzat might take him down and get on his back and then Pereira'll be like, 'f**k, I've never had someone on my back like this', cranking his face off.''

The 30-year-old will be in the audience to witness the middleweight title fight between Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland at UFC 312.

As for Pereira, he made his third light heavyweight title defense by knocking out Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. Notably, 'Poatan's performances this year earned him the 'Fighter of the Year' award.

Khamzat Chimaev acknowledges the threat Alex Pereira poses in potential clash

Khamzat Chimaev had a conversation with Michael Bisping on his YouTube channel before his middleweight bout against Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 about his feelings about taking on Alex Pereira.

Chimaev praised Pereira's knockout power but backed his own wrestling abilities, saying:

''I know stylistically this match for me is much easier than other guys. But in striking, I'm honest, I know the guy can knock me out. I know the guy is a good striker. One of the best guys, the hardest puncher, but I'm one of the best grappler-based wrestlers. He is not that."
