Sean O'Malley says he clearly outshined Merab Dvalishvili in the final rounds at Noche UFC 306: "Fight over turned. Suga won!"

Fresh off his loss to Merab Dvalishvili at Noche UFC 306 last weekend, former UFC bantamweight champ 'Sugar' Sean O'Malley took to X to provide new updates on the result of the fight. It was, however, quite tongue-in-cheek and should be filed under the former champ's online antics.

In a tweet uploaded today, O'Malley said:

"Suga State athletic commission BREAKING NEWS. Suga won 2 of the last 3 rounds. Fight Over turned. Suga won!"

While he was joking in his tweet, an argument could be made that O'Malley was indeed turning things around in the latter parts of the fight, with Sportskeeda MMA giving rounds 3 and 5 to 'Sugar'.

In the fifth and final round, O'Malley landed a darting front kick to Dvalishvili's mid-section, which seems to have hurt the Georgian fighter. Seeing an opportunity to turn the tides, O'Malley once again fired the front kick, this time making it more obvious that the challenger was hurt in the body.

Despite his best efforts to stop 'The Machine' however, O'Malley was once again taken down near the end of the final round, securing the victory for the Georgian challenger.

Sean O'Malley's initial thoughts on Noche UFC 306 loss: "Over promised under delivered"

Despite his often brash and confident personality, Sean O'Malley was humble and honest about his loss last Saturday. Despite his promises of stopping his challenger and handily retaining his belt, 'Sugar' was by a fighter with a better fighter that night.

In his tweet right after the event, O'Malley said:

"Over promised under delivered. Sorry. Love you guys."

Dvalishvili exploited O'Malley's perceived weakness coming into the fight: his grappling. The Georgian's wrestling-heavy assault and top-heavy grappling game sapped O'Malley's energy and never gave him space to land his fight-ending punches.

Judging from his tweet, we're quite positive that the former champ will learn from his mistakes and come back stronger in his next outing.
