Sean O'Malley talks about Francis Ngannou's free agency and a potential PFL move

Sean O'Malley and his brother discussed Francis Ngannou potentially fighting for the PFL.

‘The Predator’ is arguably the biggest free agent in MMA after leaving the UFC as the reigning heavyweight champion. Ngannou has shown interest in transitioning to professional boxing, but it would be surprising if he never fought MMA again.

During a podcast with his brother, ‘Sugar’ had this to say about Ngannou:

“Francis Ngannou to free agency, supposedly, I don’t know if that’s gotten confirmed yet. His mom was wearing a PFL shirt. He goes out there and staches Jon Jones on a pay-per-view. You’re telling me you’re going to make more money outside the UFC? We’ll see where it goes… I think his contract was up at the end of 2022.”

O’Malley brother’s responded by saying:

“I would have a hard time believing it, especially Jon Jones on a pay-per-view… But you know the PFL could be throwing whatever bag they have at him.”

According to Ngannou, the decision wasn't purely financial. He claims that he valued his independence on top of attempting to secure benefits for other fighters on the roster. Only time will tell what’s next for the best heavyweight on the planet.

Sean O'Malley believes Francis Ngannou needs to fight in the UFC

Sean O'Malley was among many people shocked to learn that Francis Ngannou was leaving the UFC. Although Ngannou made his decision based on his morals, ‘Sugar’ thinks he is missing out on the UFC’s massive platform. During an episode of the TimboSugarShow, O’Malley was discussing Ngannou’s future and had this to say:

“UFC… That’s just where you wanna be, where you need to be. If you wanna get paid the most, get the most eyeballs, UFC… Francis is the scariest motherf***er in the world, and he is not gonna fight in the UFC?”

Ngannou last fought in January 2022, where he successfully defended the UFC heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane. The 36-year-old has won his last six fights, including two world championship wins. Whether in boxing or MMA, ‘The Predator’ has the power and work ethic to succeed in the next chapter of his fighting career.
