Sean O'Malley vows to take advantage of Merab Dvalishvili's cut at UFC 306, reacts to Dana White's reprimand
Sean O'Malley intends to exploit Merab Dvalishvili's facial cut during their upcoming UFC 306 title fight. The bantamweight champion believes that Dvalishvili's publicly sharing information about the injury was a mistake and that he will capitalize on it in the fight.
O'Malley's comments come after UFC CEO Dana White criticized Dvalishvili for revealing the cut on social media. White argued that such information should be kept confidential to avoid giving an opponent a potential advantage. However, O'Malley disagrees and sees the cut as an opportunity to target Dvalishvili's face.
Speaking to Kevin Iole, 'Sugar' said:
"I am a 100% going to open up that cut whether it's healed or not... I don't know how much it can heal, I've never really had any bad cuts so I'm not sure. But I'm gonna be, you know, that's the left side of his face, this right hand doesn't miss. So yeah, It just adds I think, I'll probably accidentally hit his nose before I hit that cut. The nose just kind of takes up like 85% of his face. So I'm gonna try and get around his nose and and to get to that cut."
He added:
"But Dana [White] referring to him as one of the... I dont' remember what he said... One of the stupidest people or beyond stupid or, whatever he said was pretty accurate. I mean the dude's just not that smart of a guy."

Merab Dvalishvili's coach opens up on preparation for UFC 306 title fight against Sean O'Malley
Merab Dvalishvili's team is leaving no stone unturned in their preparation for his upcoming bantamweight title fight against Sean O'Malley at UFC 306. To mimic O'Malley's unique striking style, Dvalishvili's coaches have brought in world class strikers to simulate the pressure and pace that the champion brings to the octagon.
Appearing in a recent interview with Red Corner MMA, coach John Wood had this to say about his fighter's preparedness for the upcoming championship fight:
“I have never seen [Sean O'Malley] get pressured enough to where he breaks. But when you start to pressure him, he does get tired but he is very composed. He is a world champion for a reason. We’ve got guys that are world class strikers. We’ve got a guy in here that is a world class striker. Who is on the level of sniping just like O’Malley. We’ve got a lot of guys that can emulate that.”
