Sean Strickland admits to having "nightmares" about getting imprisoned: "We live in a communist country with a million f**king laws"

Sean Strickland has suggested that he has a fear of possibly being imprisoned. The former UFC middleweight champion, who was born, raised, and lives in the United States of America, indicated that the U.S. is a communist country with too many laws.

Over the years, Strickland has gained considerable notoriety for a few of his socio-political assertions, which some have deemed polarizing. He's often been accused of making transphobic, racist, and discriminatory statements.

Strickland has consistently expressed his love for his nation, the U.S. Besides, the 33-year-old has criticized the woke culture and recently accused certain U.S.-based corporations of perpetuating far-left political ideologies to undermine American culture.

In 2023, Sean Strickland addressed the much-discussed potential MMA fight between tech billionaires Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Indicating that he'd be open to training Musk for the fight, Strickland labeled Zuckerberg a "dirty communist" and underscored his dislike for communist ideology.

Moreover, earlier this year (May 2024), UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell put forth an Instagram video, wherein he claimed that he'll homeschool his child to prevent the latter from turning "gay" or "communist." Strickland chimed in by supporting Mitchell, calling the UFC featherweight a "legend."

Strickland now appears to have reiterated his dislike for communism. Taking to X, 'Tarzan' implied that his partner questioned him about his fear of being jailed. Though the U.S. has long been a democracy, he likened it to a communist nation. Strickland, who's previously been behind bars, tweeted:

"Question my girl said, "You worry about going to jail often, that isn't normal for most people." Do you guys have a fear of going to prison??!!! I have nightmares of it lol. Yes because just f**king s*cks and we live in a communist country with a million f**king laws."

Sean Strickland drew parallels between a U.S. state and communist China

Sean Strickland is fresh off a split decision victory against Paulo Costa at UFC 302 (June 2024) in Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A. During the pre-fight press conference, Strickland seemingly compared New Jersey to communist China, signaling that the state's gun laws and taxes mirrored that of the communist nation.

Strickland subsequently posted an Instagram video, featuring himself discussing it. Additionally, his statement in the post read:

"Another fun day with my freedom loving Americans!!! Its beautiful place with great people but taxes and gun laws here feel a little bit like I'm in communist China..."

In the aftermath of his victory against Paulo Costa, Sean Strickland emphasized that he'd be willing to wait on the sidelines until he's granted a shot at the UFC middleweight championship. Presently, UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis is scheduled to defend his title against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 (Aug. 17, 2024; Aug. 18 local time in Australia).

Strickland is no stranger to them. 'Tarzan' won the middleweight title by defeating Adesanya via unanimous decision in Sept. 2023 and lost it via split decision against du Plessis in Jan. 2024.
